I have not tried it but I had a close friend who did. I miss him very much.

The Budwig protocol uses flaxseed oil, which is contraindicated in PCa. There are over 3 million men alive today who once had a PCa diagnosis. I'm sure that many tried Budwig for a while & quickly moved on. If Budwig was an effective cure - & Johanna claimed many cures - why are 3 million men keeping quiet about it?

Anyway, with Thanksgiving goming up, your post reminded me of an old one:

Interesting thanks. Do you avoid flaxseed altogether or just the oil? I have a bag of ground flaxseed that I have used over the last year kept in freezer.

Back in the day, I came across a lot of flaxseed believers in PCa groups. They would grind it fresh & maybe put it in smoothies. Far less alpha linolenic acid [ALA] than in a tablespoon of pure oil, but ALA is unstable & who knows what happens to it once it is swallowed.

In the Wendy Demark-Wahnefried studies, she used pre-ground seed. Convenient, but the ALA was probably oxidized.

I think there is a strong case for flax hull lignans - zero ALA:

Thanks the post were interesting once I'd read them all. I think I'll scrutinize flaxseed more carefully though I haven't used oils much.

Hey Patrick,

I use a high quality organic flax seed as just a part of the list of seeds and nuts in a blended drink I make. I don't use much. The seeds are kept refrigerated in nature's package. The package is opened in the blender! It seems that once fax is milled or not stored properly it begins to degrade quickly. I avoid baked goods that have flax in them.

When working in pharmaceuticals there was a drug I was involved in setting up equipment, running the first batches and training techs. After going through a train of sophisticated equipment a batch yielded about a gallon and half of product worth over a million dollars-- then. It was then blended with a high quality oil from a seed--not flax--that is all I will say about that--an NDA may still be in effect. The oil was purchased in 55 gallon drums. It cost thousands of dollars. Before blending the batch and oil, a sample of the oil was tested for peroxides. If the peroxide level exceeded the limit, the oil was disposed of as waste. Anytime a drum was opened, or any container of any sort involved with that batch, the "head space" of the container or vessel was always purged or placed under low pressure with nitrogen to prevent oxidation. How many people can purge the head space of their bottle of flax oil with nitrogen after removing some oil for use?

That is standard procedure for chemicals or batches that can oxidize in he presence of atmosphere.

I believe that Dr. John McDougall who put the diet together that Dr. Ruth Heidrich follows didn't include and specifically excluded oils in the diet. I think that maybe more is known about oils now.
