Hi fellow survivors. I've recently had both bone scans and a choline scan. The choline scan picked up some significant bone activity that will be radiated. Now I'm having an MRI to help figure out how much radiation (or I think that's what I heard, but I don't hear much after any bad news...:-).
Q: What info does an MRI provide that the other scans don't? Is it likely it will find more cancer that the choline scan did not pick up? Just trying to manage my anxiety. Thanks for any help!

yes, I think that's right. I'm just trying to understand if there is a risk of more bad news from new info not visible on other scans. I've reached my weekly limit for bad news.... thanks!
I know my dad had Axumin and then because mets were on his spine they did MRI to check the spine to assess if there is any encroachment of the spinal cord and toSee if he needs radiation/ I know they also do it to Make-sure they have the proper spots for radiation as well . I honestly thinks it’s normal for getting radiation for exact location
My PSMA scan showed a met on L-5. From Kishan at UCLA was chosen to radiate the spot. He had an MRI done to both confirm the diagnosis and to help map out the actual radiation plan.
If you are going to have radiation treatments, I would guess that there will be a lot of scans in your future. In my case there were several to get the data for the programing for the equipment. I had both CyberKnife and TrueBeam. They started by implanting markers in my prostate area (gold seeds) to align the equipment on and also two tattoo marks on my stomach. These were to help align for the Lymph Nodes below my ribs. This is all done with scans.
