it is mainly done to look for cancer of the bladder and ureter

It could detect prostate cancer if the cancer is advanced and infiltrates the bladder and the urethra

My dad had an Axumin and it showed uptake on anterior bladder wall- so now cytology showed atypical cells - next step is cystoscope - just wondering what exactly atypical means - I did email oncologist but the nurse answers at times and doesn’t give clear response.

Yes and yes. I had Cytology report that was abnormal and cystoscope proved it. Biopsy showed bladder cancer. Fortunately, it was non muscle invasive and they got it all. So pay attention to cytology reports.
