Hi folks. I started docetaxel chemo 3 weeks ago and the next cycle is due today, but because of organisational issues due to the flood in Germany that affected my clinic it has been shifted 4 days ahead. Can this affect the effectiveness of the therapy?
Treatment deferred!: Hi folks. I... - Advanced Prostate...
Treatment deferred!
It won't make a difference, but you have 4 more days to something you enjoy so I'd recommend that.
I had a one week delay in my chemo and used part of that time to do an activity that I would not have been able to do if my chemotherapy had not been delayed.
Actually, the first cycle didn't affect my wellbeing dramatically , just hair loss and initial slight loss of taste that lasted just a couple of days . I hope it's a precedent for the subsequent ones . However, I'll heed to your advice. Thanks.
Look to be hairless and needing lots of Spice in your Life after #2. I did 9 and should have stopped at 7 or 8. Enjoy your new look. I really had to get over the shock as I had a full down on my chest beard and long hair w/ponytail.
Cancer doesn't have a time clock! I believe the duration between infusions is more related to allowing the patient to physically recover enough in order to take another blast of that stuff! But don't sweat the small stuff, you're good!
Best Regards
I don't think so but I'm not an expert. Talk to your Medical Oncologist.
I did five rounds of Docetaxel. Be aware that the chemical will be in your body months after you stop. I ended up with extensive neuropathy in my feet and legs and a loss of balance. Most of these symptoms didn't appear until June and July after treatments ended in March. Through rehab I recovered from about 70% of the symptoms and have no PSA so far. As far as being shifted four days, I don't think that makes any difference based on what the doctors and nurses shared during my treatments. However, just be aware that nerve damage will continue after you finish chemo and a 40 year old doctor may not have enough experience to know when to stop. He/she may want to kill cancer at all costs when an experienced doctor will know that the last 2 percentage points of insurance may not be worth the side effect damage.
