Genetic Test from July 2019 may have relevant information

My MO went back and looked at the Foundation One Genetic Testing done in July of 2019.

Apparently, they are doing some work at Jefferson on targeting P300/CBP right now. The link below is dated May 2021. This mutation was listed 2 years ago but they said there were no known targeted therapies. The picture attached is the language that is related to this mutation.

The scholarly article is challenging for a layperson to read, but I am interested so I will study it.

I am sharing it before I know if it will be relevant for me personally. Many of us have had genetic tests done in the past. In the 2 years since this test was done, there are many developments. It is probably a good idea to review the information collected in the past to see if there are now therapies that might be relevant that were not.

My oncologist said it is rare, but not unheard of to learn new things from subsequent testing. In my case, it is difficult to get tissue samples from bone to testing on new growth.

I feel like my constant questioning about figuring out why my cancer doesn't behave like all the other kids on the block, incentivized him to look at previous things that were done. It is way too early to suggest this will help me, but it is worth looking into.

Many of us may find this to be a useful exercise.

I applaud your persistence and constant questioning. It is so important to keep our doctors on their toes and challenge them. I do the same. Knowledge is power. At times I feel I am more knowledgeable than them, which is not a bad thing. We all must be our own best advocates!

I try to understand everything that is going on. I would articulate my interaction differently than you. I don't think I am more knowledgeable than they are. My thought process and approach to problem-solving are different. I think that the different approach and desire to think a couple of steps forward can be helpful, and all Doctors should consider being more proactive. My Dad used to implore me to listen to everyone and digest what they are thinking and saying. His quote, "Two heads are better than one, even if one is a cabbage head," fuels my desire to listen, as valuable contributions sometimes come from unexpected sources.

Of course, decision time comes and we must guard against paralysis by analysis. For that, my Dad used to say, "THAT IS THE WAY I WANT IT, AND THAT IS THE WAY IT IS GOING TO BE!" I can't get the accent on the page, but he was a good listener, an effective communicator, and an outstanding leader. Unfortunately, Dad died from Prostate Cancer in 1984 at the age of 60. I didn't realize how young that was at the time.

I just had blood drawn for genetic testing. Will see in a week or so. Mom has breast cancer, 95 years old, and sister has breast cancer both estrogen positive.

Philly13, About 6 years ago I went to cancer seminar at Massey cancer center at which a Doc from Jefferson in Philly reported that Curcumin block the Diemerization of P300 and CBP prteins to fight PCa. I have been taking SuperbioCurcumin from LEF.org at high dose of 12 pills aday for about 15 years. I am a 27 year survivor with mets on Casodex montherapy for 31/2 years wich is starting to progress with a PSA =.1 at 5 month doubling time. I will be adding Niclosamide soon .
