Hi guys, has anyone in here yet been treated with Proton Therapy yet?
Proton Therapy : Hi guys, has anyone in... - Advanced Prostate...
Proton Therapy
Many have. Put proton in the search bar. What is your question?
I have. Went to Winship Cancer Institue / Emory Proton Center. Had treatment in Sept - October. Very happy with results so far! I have not had any bowel or bladder side effects. I do have severe fatigue, but I was fighting that before the Proton Therapy. It is expensive! However, my insurance covered a lot of it, and Emory has been good fighting on my behalf to haggle down the price of parts that were not covered.
The marker seed placement was hell... other than that, whole process went very smooth!
I finished proton therapy in March, 2016. Results good for a time. PSA started up in late 2018 and now I am on Lupron and Zytiga with PSA rising again.
I have for prostate cancer 5 years ago and it was successful and wonderful treatment. Had it done at UF Jacksonveille.
Hi, Yes I had Proton Therapy in 2010. I was 72 years old. Absolutely no side effects, none, na da, none. Medicare and blue cross split the cost. 125,k.Originally the cost was quoted to me at 250k. My cost was $25.00. After my treatments and to this Day, my wife is still very happy I chose Proton Therapy . It's the real deal!!!
My Urologist dropped me as his patient because I chose PT. They didn't a piece of the action, plain and simple! God Bless!
.
I did in 2010, and had a reoccurance requiring treatment in 2018. Great process just didnt work for me. Followed up with HIFU.
I asked Loma Linda Hospital in Riverside County, California early on about their very expensive Proton program. They responded that since I had metastatic progression the treatment was not right in my case. Stage 4, 4 bone mets. However Zytiga has worked so well for me , 6 years of remission now.
I am just finishing up Proton Therapy at SCCA, with my last treatment next Tuesday. My side effects are urinary. Increased frequency, weak stream, difficulty starting, incomplete emptying. I haven’t experienced any noticeable fatigue. Ibuprofen helps and I’m on Alfuzosin 10mg daily. The urinary effects suck, but they’re not intolerable and should be temporary.
I had salvage Proton therapy at ProCure in NJ in the summer of 2018. Surgery in 2006. Reoccurrence in 2010. Currently in remission. Minor urinary discomfort during treatment which ended 2 weeks after treatment. Choose Proton Therapy because I have a history of Ulcerative Colitis. The 40 session treatment did not set off my colitis.
