After a failed Space OAR gel placement back in October 2022 I finally started my proton therapy today (4-17-2023). Twenty proton treatments scheduled. Onward!

Proton therapy finally starts
Good luck! I just finished mine (44 sessions) on April 7. It was as uneventful and side-effect-free (mostly) as I had hoped. Be sure to share any SEs you have with your radiation oncologist as you go along. I noted a decreasing stream and increased urgency part way through; he said that was typical, and put me on FloMax, which helped a lot. Otherwise, no complaints. But I'm glad to be done with that, and back to my regular lifestyle!
Thank you for your comments. I pray all goes well. I will keep a lookout for any SE.I would imagine the SE may start appearing after week two. Onward!
I had 44 IMRT treatments about a year ago. Just one small burn. If you ae having proton therapy, you should be ok.
Fight On!

Hi BB-1
I had PBT in S. Korea in 2013. 28 treatments over 9 weeks. The National Cancer Centre in Seoul claims to be the Best Cancer Treatment Centre in the World. It was a highly professional outfit. I had a residential, treatment and consierge package.
Treatment fully successful. Still in great shape. Only problem is small finger nail sized burn on rectum wall adjacent to prostate. It still bleeds minimally once or twice a year after gassy evacuation.
I discuss my therapy in my best selling book "An ABC of Prostate Cancer Today'- 3rd Edition. Available from Amazon.
Hope this helps.
Alan
I had some and it worked. After effects come about 5 years later. Bleeding, burning and so on.
