Doctors found out its MDS for my father, so they want to control it with medicines similar to cemo and then will decide after 4 months for bone marrow transplant. I am just wondering we had this problem of low hemoglobin since his radiation 2.5 years but still hemotologist never realised this is the problem gradually increasing towards MDS. We tried finding out the reason so long ago. Now feel so low about this which could have been controlled at the starting stage. Currently doctor says it can be controlled and stopped converting into blood cancer via medicines and bone marrow transplant. Hoping for the best. Please pray for the best.

This link has some of the possible causes of myelodysplastic syndrome. Cancer treatment with chemo could be one of the factors.

This link has info about treatment.

He needs to consult with a hematologist.

"Patients with MDS should be under the care of a hematologist. Because most treatments for MDS are not standard and are considered experimental, referral to a tertiary care center with bone marrow transplantation capabilities is often necessary."

Yes treatment started today, will go on for more 6 days then they will keep him under observation for 21 days and then start again like this 3 months they want to do 4th month might be bone marrow, but all his siblings are old now not sure if we children can be right fit else who else. Hope life expentancy increases after that, as they want to stop mds from converting to blood cancer

Your father is 68 years old and I read on Goggle that patients with Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) have a 5 year life expectency. Let's pray that he outlives that expectency...
