Have a Great Day!

I've passed the 19 month mark since my original diagnosis, and looking forward to a healthier second half of 2020. My goal right now is to run a marathon in my back yard.

Now let’s turn those months into years brother.

I'm in Medford area, not as nice as Natick, but please look me up anytime when you're in my neck of woods...

I worked in Natick, my house is in the boonies beyond 495 up near the NH state line.

I understand your backyard marathon plan. I do walk/brisk walk 5+ miles a day in my backyard...so I know it is possible if dozens and dozens of rounds are made.

Moderate weather and easy access lower the threshold it takes to get outside and walking. Many times I just put on shoes and go walk around in the seats I hang around the house in, an unexpected benefit.

Hope you get a new personal best backyard time! By the way-awesome blog post. Toyota Corona! LOL. Best of luck on your last round.

I’m at the basically same time since DX too. I love to run around my back yard as well ... after a while my wifey usually comes and gets me and leads me back in and tells me to put my clothes back on.

Seriously tho .... adt has trashed me , I admire you guys that still have some athletic ability , even mobility left. I just spent my Trump check on a three wheel HD ebike scooter so I can get outdoors again. If I just walk from the inside of the house to my truck in the driveway , I’m dripping wet with sweat, red faced , huffing and puffing and my BP has jumped to 215 / 120. I have to sit about 5 minutes to allow my BP to recover somewhat and catch my breath Just to drive off. I’ve had the last 18 consecutive months at undetectable psa but the ADT is probably going to take me first. My oncologist says I’m doing great ..... considering my DX. Yayahahahaya

LOL hahaha! Thanks for the good laugh.

I have relative youth on my side. Compared to the majority of prostate cancer patients, I'm just a hyperactive toddler. Still, on a bad chemo day, changing my underwear can make me breathless. That said, I do feel very lucky to only have some of the ADT side effects.

The way you describe it, it almost sounds like you're having a variation of a hot flash when you go to your truck. I've heard hot flashes involve adrenaline, which might explain the high BP and sweating. "I'm not a doctor", but wonder if there's something that might help, like a beta blocker.

The origin of hot flashes is in the brain..in hypothalamus to be precise.

Therefore, hot-flashes can be reduced significantly by medicines which work on brain...such as anti depressants like zoloft, effexor , trazodone etc. An anti seizure medicine..gabapentin also reduces hot flashes.
