Covid 19 survivor
I think I may have had COVID-19 back in december 2019, but I am not sure as there are no reliable antibody tests at this time. I have advanced prostate cancer, had it removed and waiting for further therapy to deal with 2 zodes. live in Lichfield UK about 100 miles north of London, and my wife and I drove down to London early december for grandparent duty while my daughter and husband went off for a well earned weekend. When we arrived all 3 grandchildren were not well with elevated temperatures, coughs etc and not responding much to Calpol. My little graddaughter, a year old, was suffering so badly that we rushed her off to hospital where she spent a week in intensive care, at times on a ventilator. When we returned home, we also developed the same symptoms and both of us spent time in bed with coughs fever etc. All this was before COVID-19 hit the headlines in the UK. I am now OK if that answers your question, but do I have COVID-19 antibodies?
I returned from a trip to Mexico on February 29. My wife immediately got sick. I got sick about three days later. Think it was COVID but did not test. Had fever, cough, lost taste and weight. Was very tired. Took three weeks to get over it. I called the VA Doc early in March and she said it was most likely just a cold. Early in the COVID process. Never had a cold last that long to recover. Lost about 10 pounds and I am not heavy. Now think that part of my success in recovering was the fact that Dr. Myers put me on Vitamin D years ago, which they now are suggesting may help in beating COVID. I am still more tired than normal and get short of breath easily. That may be a result of not continuing my normal cardio exercise and I am now trying to get back into it.
Was really sick in jan both my wife and i with cough and fever. Sickest i have been a long time. Not tested but suspect covid
To our thinking, yes. We were not tested.
My wife and I returned from a trip to Mexico in January and within a week both of us had all the symptoms of covid 19. At the time it was not in the news that much and we both dealt with it at home not knowing what the heck we had.
My wife had it worse lasting 6 weeks with cough, fatigue, body aches and headaches being the most prominent symptoms. I had same issues but running nose, sore throat as well. Mine lasted about 3-4 weeks and I was on a heavier use of Salbutamol and Fluticasone (steroid for asthma).
We both must have had a natural immunity to it as we never went to a doctor or hospital as our symptons never got into an area where we thought it was necessary, although I told my wife she should as she was worse.
It was only when the shit hit the fan in March where upon reflection we thought we must have contracted it somehow on our trip.
It was not a normal cold or flu as neither of us ever had something similar to that.
If we get an opportunity to be tested we will take it as we both want to see if we had it.
I assume some of us had it without knowing it. In Stockholm (Sweden) we believe that somewhere between 30% to 40% have been infected already. Thats more than 600 000 people, most didn't need any care. I read that up to 80% of COVID-19 cases exhibit so mild symptoms that they didn’t realize they were carrying the virus. Strange disease that some get very ill and some don't notice it.
Yeh, I've been thinking I may have got it around Christmas. It lasted for 5 weeks. Did not go to hospital but to clinic and pcp. Only problem with this theory, is not one of the medical people came down with it. Who knows, a reliable antibody test would ease my mind. Until we have one I look like a hazmat worker when I have to get groceries.
I survived 10 miserable years with my first wife........ Does that count?
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
