Has anyone taking Docetaxel had issues with their toenails turning black and blue? If so is there anything that can be done for this?

Mine did the same. I believe it’s a common side effect of the treatment. Regarding what can be done I ask others to chime in. What I can tell you is I completed 6 rounds at the end of November and the nails on my big toes fell off. My finger nails are almost back to normal. Toe nails have a long way to go.

Many here have successfully used ice packs on there feet and hands, and even heads to eliminate or reduce SEs of the chemo.

Are the ice packs more intended for neuropathy and hair loss?

Yes but I believe they work for nails as well as the cold constricts the blood flow to the tissues that connect the nail.

my experience highly similar to hex40.

I spoke to Dr Snuffy Myers at a PCRI conference a few years ago---assured me it was a very common effect of docetaxel

Very common. My husband had this issue with his toenails and fingernails. Got a NASTY infection on one finger, needing surgery. If anything looks 'off' to you (red, pus, etc.,) immediately go to your doctor.

His big toenails eventually either came off or broke into many pieces. He's been going to a podiatrist for almost a year now to take care of the nails for him.

Good luck!!

I also lost all fingernails and toe nails following Docetaxel, and most were infected with fungus that lasted for over two years until I treated them with ProClearz Fungal Shield which has Tolnafate that cleared up the fungus!
