I am supposed to fly to Germany tomorrow for my second lu177/ac225 in Heidelberg next Tuesday. I am a US citizen and my travel is NOT nonessential. Will I have trouble returning from Germany next week?

Thanks,

Rex Waterbury.

I just read that there is a travel ban going into effect banning travel from Europe.

Trump just canceled all flights from Europe for a month. But he excluded his Brexit pals in the UK. So you may be OK if you fly through the UK coming and going, and ask German customs to not stamp your passport.

Not correct. My airline United is operating most flights to Europe. I bid my husband Geneva, Zurich, Munich, Brussels and Amsterdam for his April schedule. What you will see are smaller wide bodies. Like the 767 instead of 777.

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply to paige20180

As usual, Trump got it wrong. One can still fly to Europe. Flights from Europe have been scaled back. Europeans are not allowed to fly into the US from most of mainland Europe, but Americans are (as of today) allowed to return if they can get a flight. Europeans flying from the UK to the US have to have been there for at least 14 days. This stuff is changing everyday.

Correction: The US just canceled travel from the UK and Ireland too.

washingtonpost.com/world/20...

It is unclear how the ban applies if the travel to Europe began after the ban was in place. I would think that those Americans are pretty much stuck there for awhile.

You got it wrong TA, Trump doesn't have responsibility to create travel bans for destination countries. We get it you don't like Trump, suggest you stick to posts about PCa and leave politics off the board.

Everything I wrote was true at the time, and has to do with the president's misinformation about travel- suggest you try to help people instead of defending Trump.

I agree with your assessment of our uninformed “leader”. And what you wrote was true. As always thank you for giving us your time to answer our questions. Btw Trump doesn't need defending he has enough sycophants to do that.

How are your comments against Trump helping people in this PCa forum?

"So you may be OK if you fly through the UK coming and going, and ask German customs to not stamp your passport."

LOL, customs in most countries don't even stamp passports anymore. They scan your passport. You're not getting into the UK without them knowing you were first in Germany.

I just heard that it applies mainly to foreign nationals, but there is some confusion about this so you will have to find out if it applies to you.

In the newspapers they wrote: There will be exceptions for us citizens who accept to undergo some tests .

I still plan to go in two weeks. The dust is still settling as various government agencies walk back what Trump said. Where it stands so far tonight is that US citizens and residents are free to return to the US. The question I have is how many flights will be cut if only Americans are flying to/from Europe.

My favorite line on Twitter: "none of the accurate things the president said were reassuring and none of the reassuring things he said were accurate." Among the inaccurate things is that insurance companies agreed to cover the cost of coronavirus treatment. They agreed to cover the cost of testing.

Cosette100 profile image
Cosette100 in reply to TeleGuy

Just fly back via London if there are problems, good luck with the treatment

timotur profile image

You're ok, Trump's travel ban does not apply to US citizens, so you don't have to fly through London... your only risk would be a quarantine situation if things change before your return. If you fly direct to Germany, don't even ask customs not to stamp your passport, they scan it anyway, they know where you've been. Best--- T

Release Date: March 11, 2020

(WASHINGTON) Today President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Proclamation, which suspends the entry of most foreign nationals who have been in certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States. These countries, known as the Schengen Area, include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. This does not apply to legal permanent residents of the U.S., (generally) immediate family members of U.S. citizens, and other individuals who are identified in the proclamation.

There was a ban on European travelers to the US but apparently it won’t apply to US citizens. See below. You may end up in quarantine tho on your way home. You may wish to discuss with the State a Department.

“President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he would ban many foreign travelers from Europe for the next 30 days amid the growing coronavirus outbreak“.

But also,”The restrictions apply only to foreign nationals, and not U.S. citizens, green card holders or the families of U.S. citizens, the Department of Homeland Security said”.

American Citizens and permanent residents and their immediate family members are exempt from travel ban.

I was supposed to go to New Delhi, India yesterday to get Ga68 PSMA scan etc. BUT Indian Govt have banned entry to India from any corner of the World. Better Be safe than sorry.

RayF profile image
RayF in reply to LearnAll

What does a Ga68 scan cost in India, if you don't mind my asking?

LearnAll profile image
LearnAll in reply to RayF

Depending on quality of facility in Delhi or Mumbai, Ga68 PSMA PET CT costs between $250 to $350.

Fuzzman77 profile image
Fuzzman77 in reply to RayF

$325 in Delhi at Sir Gangham Ram, and about $550.00 at Medanta Medicity in Gurgaon, which is a suburb of Delhi. Cost would be a little less now since the exchange rate is up about 10%. Have had five PSMA PET’s over there. September will be three years NED, however my PSA did rise to .24 six weeks ago so onco stateside added Zytiga again since we know it was working well in combo with my vaccines.

I would add a few thoughts for those planning travel:

1) what is true as of today is subject to change, and may not hold in a few days or weeks (we are still FAR from hitting peak-contagion in the US and Europe), as things will likely get worse before getting better, so far as restrictions go

2) even if travel is not restricted, the number of flight options may end up being greatly reduced (it is going to get expensive for airlines to fly half-empty planes), so it may be easier getting to some places and harder getting to others, within planned time frames

RayF profile image
RayF in reply to noahware

The UK said they expect the peak to be in 12-14 weeks. We are just getting started on this.

Go and fix yourself . Enjoy Germany and get healed! 🙏

Cosette100 profile image
Cosette100 in reply to

Totally agree...there will always be a way to get back...otherwise rent a place all will be cheaper and empty. Germany has drive thru testing centers...and more hospital beds, we will be doing triage here because we have less available beds than Italy and Germany...

I hope that all of you will find as soon as possible another affordable Lu177 treatment, because it's important to get the shots between 4 and 6 weeks after the preceding one. The best is now to get it 4 weeks after. Before, they thought that you have to wait 8 weeks.

We are leaving tomorrow for munich. Just about fainted when I saw the news last night. Seems at this point the ban doesn't affect u.s. Citizens however we moved out flight from Saturday to tomorrow. Figure it's better to be where the medicine is and get stuck there than not get the treatment scary times

in reply to Dalipup

I agree. Follow your plan .. make it work well ! 🙏🏼

When you re-enter the US, you will required to complete a document that reads you will self-quarantine for 14 days.

I think one of the posts here has suggested that you can travel through the UK going and coming back and not get your passport stamped in Germany. First, I don't think Germany will do that because of Brexit and second there is a reason why these countries are on the "no fly list".

Germany has been hard hit by COVID-19 and therefore, you would need to be quarantined upon your return to the states. It is essential travel for you but it does require you take additional precautions when you return, so you can be cleared to avoid exposing anyone here, should you be infected.

Good luck.

Hey Rex

If you have to do it, do so cause yours is a medical issue. But to be on the safe side, do make a few phone calls and double check. Make sure you have a good travel insurance too.

If you do go, stay away from crowds and put on a mask, wash your hands regularly and you’ll be fine. Do stay tune with trending news though.

Take care, my best to you

I too am to fly Monday to the University of Heidelberg for my forth treatment of AC-225 and Lu-177. Lufthansa is still flying as of this morning. International Ofiice at the hospital

does not respond to should I still come. My wife has COPD and is terrified of getting the disease since it is a lung disease and she is 78. We have quarantined ourselves.

Mt Psa is now ONE. This last trip is important to possible get remission.I need a clear bowling ball.

Hi Rex,

We are supposed to fly to Frankfurt tomorrow Friday for a PSMA in Homburg. I work as a 737 Captain for a major airline. We decided to have a Choline 11 in Illinois instead. Things are changing so fast, I don’t think you can predict getting back. I spoke to my flight office and explained I may get stuck in Germany and they thought I’d get home, but really none of the US airlines know what will happen next. Would it be ok if you spent a month in Germany? Once you leave, you’re at the mercy of that country too. Depends on how much you want back. I wouldn’t be afraid of renting a house in Germany for a month. We were just going for a scan so not so important as your mission. Best wishes.

Thanks. Lufthansa as of this morning are still flying in and out of Detroit to Frankfort. But my return flight is not till March 20 arriving Detroit March 21. Many things could happen in the meantime. Does not mean a flight will be for return.

The travel ban on flights from Europe excludes US citizens.

That means not a thing when Delta cancels your return flight, and all other flights from Germany.
