My radiologist wrote scripts for me to have two MRIs before my next appointment with him. But I am not sore anywhere. Should I do them?

My last appointment with him was 6 months ago. A year ago I had radiation to a hip and my neck but nothing since. Since I have over 20 Mets, radiating all of them is out of the question.

I just had an MRI and meeting with my Oncologist. The MRI showed no new Mets and my PSA is steady at 0.02. Should I go ahead with the MRIs? I guess I feel that I f I do them or not he will not want to radiate anything since I am not hurting (even after snowmobiling with a bunch of guys in their 30’s last week 2 of them were my sons)!

A test only has value if it can change a treatment decision.

With a PSA of .02 and no pain, I would not get any imaging.

Wait a minute, I just got my middle body MRI and bone scan today. My PSA: <0.02 for 6 months and holding.

My last scan was early July/2019, a day before starting 6 Taxotere infusions. At diagnosis (09/18) - had extensive metastasis from pelvic up to T8 vertebrae, moreover a large tumor extending from the prostate, invading the bladder!

Then the lytic and blastic bone characterization from previous imaging findings were puzzling.

My point, imaging matters...

These are new mets in the last 6 months?

Actually, everything I mentioned above was at diagnosis. Failed to mention, while at PSA <0.02, the images before Taxotere showed 2 new small spots, 1 on each side of the rib.

I agree with TallAllen. IFFFF the results could possibly effect treatment decisions , why wouldn’t you get them done?

Well, I am different from most. I track Mets. Look through the first six years, I had 20. My last was in 2016 and it was my 22nd. It is what my MO wanted. Who am I to say different........ but then again, I have had over a hundred PSA and T tests since 2003.
