Had my PSMA scan in Houston last Friday ... got the call today that said I wasn't a good candidate, so now on to Xtandi. Will see how that goes and then the next step will be a PARP inhibitor if Xtandi doesn't do it.

Did not qualify for Vision Trial
Did they tell you why you were not a good candidate? Low PSMA expression or other medical problems?
Low PSMA expression.
If you are BRCA 2 you should explore the possibility of enter a clinical trial with a PARP inhibitor (Olaparib or similar). This is a list of clinical trials:
clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/resu...
Between 75 to 80 % of cancers with BRCA respond to these drugs for a while.
Have you had a tumor biopsy?
yes, back in 2012 when I was diagnosed.
Well, a more recent biopsy might provide some clues as to which therapies might work best now. It would also be a good idea to see if you carry a germline BRCA mutation, for which a PARP inhibitor might be effective. Germline genomics can be done from a saliva test and is inexpensive ($250):
Hi Alvin... My husband qualified for the vision trial but was denied, he has been on Xtandi for a month now..... fatigue and nausea. ...had been off any treatment since June 24.waiting to get the vision trial, .PSA was 49,at that time stopped chemo June 26th PSA went to to 89, 500 this past PSA test swent to 1, 348... Sam will get tested this coming week for PSA. Going on the twenty second of this month for bone scan and ct scan. We are hoping that the Xtandi has started to kick in by then, dr. said it takes a couple months to start working..

We were disappointed about not getting in the vision trial.. The MO was too! I guess
Best of care is being put on Xtandi, or whatever the doctors decide what drug is best.
keep us posted as to how you are doing on the Xtandi. ..
