Hi Vitaminlover. My husband saw Alvin Chun Chin Goh at MSK twice. First for a prostate biopsy and a few weeks ago for a cystoscopy. My husband says not much of a bedside manner but 'capable.'

Thank you! Does he handle all aspects of urology? MSK notes seem to indicate that he specializes in sexual and reproductive medicine.

When I was diagnosed, I asked for my brother's surgeon--the Chief (he literally wrote the book--"The Prostate Book"--Peter Scardino. But he's not operating anymore. The current chief is Eastham, whom my now-retired shrink used with good results. I went to Karim Touijer--the nursing staff apparently loves him, although that may be because (as my wife said) he's GORGEOUS. More important to me is that he's well-reviewed and has published VERY widely. You should know that he will use a robot if you request it, but I got the impression he doesn't love it, and his default is laparoscopic, but NOT robotic laparoscopic. So if you're dead-set on Da Vinci, you may want to try someone who loves going that way. What are the results? Pretty much OK--the surgery wasn't fun, but not as bad as feared. How great was he? Ask me in about 10-15 years if I'm still around. My biopsy was done by Dr. Ehdaie. Now it's very likely I'm just a baby, but the anesthesia was not great.

As it happens, today is the 1-year anniversary of my RP so I have another thing to remember about 9/11.
