It's definitely positive, but I don't think it means a lot for you right now. You are going to stay on ADT which is working for you now and that's the most important thing.

AR-V7 is positive in less than 1% of primary PCa. It becomes much more prevalent after castrate resistance. It's important when you are looking at the effectiveness of second-line ADT drugs like Zytiga or Xtandi, but should not be an exclusion for trying them.

AR-V7 is something that usually develops as a result of pressure from treatment so you will need to have this checked again after you become castrate resistant.

ty, gregg57, I have appointment with MO this Friday, he mentioned going on xtandi before I had my scans two months ago now he's talking zytiga instead ??

I've been on Zytiga for just over a year now and haven't noticed any side effects. It's keeping my PSA undetectable. Can't argue with that.

That's good news. It's only bad news if you do have it.

Doctor refuses to test for AR-V7

I have tried three times to get my husband's MO to request an AR-V7 test. The doctor says that since

AR-V7, Zytiga(abiraterone) and Xtandi (enzalutamide)

According so some studies, 40-50 percent of patients receiving any of the above drugs do not respond

Most likely positive for genetic mutation and AR-V7
