Does anyone have experience with San Diego (or Orange County) Kaiser in regards to advanced prostate cancer... specifically an oncologist referral?

San Diego Kaiser
No direct experience. Others from SoCal may chime in later.
Kaiser has some men's cancer support groups that meet monthly in Irvine and Anaheim. You might get some local support and ideas from some of them.

These guys in Orange County might be interesting to meet, too.
Thanks for the lead.
I don’t want to be out of line but my husband was given a PCa misdiagnosis and old treatment choices there. They just don’t have the best equipment or treatments. We waited until open enrollment and switched to Sharp, where my hubby received excellent care and when they did not have to best treatment they sent him to Scripps. You are worth it.
I am with Kaiser Downey and when I started I asked for their Oncologist and the GP said here the Urologist is the Oncologist.
I am a retired Kaiser physician with metastatic PCA. I am in Denver, a much smaller region than Southern California KP. Whoever gave you that non-professional answer was wrong. Very few urologists are also certified in oncology. You need to ask for a referral to medical oncology and ask if one oncologist is more interested in prostate cancer.
They have a National Center of Excellence in Prostate Cancer in Northern California.
I was diagnosed May of 2018 with PC- Gleeson score 9. My Oncologist, Dr. David Lou has been great. He is at the Kaiser Sand Canyon in Irvine. I have been happy with my care at Kaiser but I really believe you have to take control of your health care decisions. I leave today for Germany for my first round of Lutitium-177 PSMA treatment.
I hope that helps. Good Luck!!
Thanks for the info. Best wishes for success in Germany.
