I'm in Boston, but frequently visit the city (my birth place), my nephew is a chef there.

My doc is Mark Pomerantz, MD, which you recommended in some response, I hear you..

I am upstate, like really upstate, way above Westchester, in the Binghamton area, and I get treatment at Sloan. I stayed at Hope Lodge while receiving radiation from Sep through Nov. While the majority there are from out of the area some nearby stay there to decrease travel and stress. You could contact them to see if they could post something there for other patients (and trust me, there are many there that deal with PCa). Also, check with the social workers at Sloan, as I'm sure they have support groups where you could make contacts as well. Lastly you could try other local hospitals where they treat it and see what groups they have also.

My father is treated at the NJ offices for MSK.

My Dad is being treated in Manhattan at Mt. Sinai but lives in Northern NJ . Is your Dad going to the new MSK in Montvale? If so, what has been your experience with the hospital/Dr? We are very happy with his treatment and Dr. but Montvale would be a bit easier drive. Thanks!

He had originally gone to Mt Sinai for a specific surgeon to have his prostate removed, but when that was no longer an option we switched to MSK because they have a great reputation and are much closer. He goes to the Baskifn Ridge location and then in the summer has had some treatments down at Monmouth. The new staff for Montvale was being trained at our locations when we started last year so I’m sure it’s a great facility and having it much more accessible makes all the difference in the world to reduce the stress. I would go take a tour and meet with them if it’s easier for him.

The one in montvale has a limited treatment center. I go for infusions and injections. Nice place. Easy to get to.

I live in north Jersey and go to HUMC John Theurer Cancer Center. HUMC is affiliated with MSK however I don't go to the Montville office. Hackensack is just 10 minutes away from me.

are you still using BIRM -- did it help?

Lombardi24 profile image
Lombardi24 in reply to George71

I dont think so. I'm not using the concentrated BIRM. The BIRM you can get from someone in California (Nalakrats has the info) is the more concentrated version. It is supposed to stop mets.
