VMAT is the same as IMRT, but is an "advanced" form of this therapy, according to Varian, the manufacturer of the "Varian True Beam" machinery and software.
You can't swim during radiotherapy - you have to be still In fact, you should push yourself to do as much aerobic exercise as possible throughout the time you are getting radiation. It actually may help the radiation work better, and it prevents fatigue.
I had VMAT (RapidArc) for my SBRT. It is just the way the linac delivers radiation in an arc - it isn't its own therapy. It is very quick - my sessions (Truebeam with RapidArc) took only 5-10 minutes and that's with the constant realignment required for SBRT.
