The plan is to use VMAT in 25 fractions of 2.7gy to the prostate (67.5 total) and 2 gy to pelvic nodes (52gy total)

Anyone has experience with VMAT?

I dont see it mentioned very much here in the forum

Another question, Is it possible to swim during Radiotherapy ?

VMAT is the same as IMRT, but is an "advanced" form of this therapy, according to Varian, the manufacturer of the "Varian True Beam" machinery and software.

Thank you spinosa. Was wandering if it is any different from other RT techniques in terms of efficacy , side effects

You can't swim during radiotherapy - you have to be still ;-) In fact, you should push yourself to do as much aerobic exercise as possible throughout the time you are getting radiation. It actually may help the radiation work better, and it prevents fatigue.

I had VMAT (RapidArc) for my SBRT. It is just the way the linac delivers radiation in an arc - it isn't its own therapy. It is very quick - my sessions (Truebeam with RapidArc) took only 5-10 minutes and that's with the constant realignment required for SBRT.
