My question for the morning...

How long does it typically take when beginning chemo, to know if it is working or not? I would imagine more scans to be scheduled. My husbands adenocarcinoma has reached the point of not making psa so I wouldn’t think that bloodwork would be a good indicator.

Have you had any tumors biopsied or any genomic studies done?

Yes, just week before last some lymph nodes in his neck were biopsied. They were positive for prostatic adenocarcinoma

My husband's PSA while on taxotere, lupron, Zytiga and Predisone, his oncologist said no need for any scan since psa is at 0.1

A rising alkaline phosphatase is sometimes a good indicator of bone mets activity. Also I think the consensus is no benefit after 3 months, try something else. Wish you the best. Rocco

My Psa was about 12 when I had first Docetaxal 2 weeks ago. Doc says it might keep rising after second chemo, and may not begin to fall until 3rd chemo, say after 10weeks.

But I know a guy who had Psa 40, then 10 after first chemo, and it went to 2.0 minimum, and then was back up to 10 after 6 chemos, about 18 weeks, so he's begun enzalutamide and maybe he gets Lu177. But he did not respond well to RP, RT, ADT, and from what I saw happen it means that nobody can really cannot know what will or will not happen with chemo, or any other treatment you try, so you try it, and just wait, and you cannot expect good knews. Wish for good response, sure, but after 8 years of many treatments so far, I never assume anything at all.
