Since it is an in vitro study, in the lab not in people, there's no sure way to translate into dose for humans.

FWIW, I know people who have taken 120 mg melatonin per night for many years, no issues. Alternative therapy cancer resources have long advocated 20-50 mg melatonin per night for cancer patients.

That sounds like a high dosage, no? I take 5mg once in a while to go to bed and it works. Can’t imagine what 100mg daily would do to you.

Yes, it's a big dose, but common in cancer cases. Here's what Dr. Frank Schallenberger has to say:

"The data on the anti-cancer potential of melatonin is getting bigger as we speak. If you or a loved one is currently battling cancer, you need to be taking melatonin. And take it often and a lot. The study showed that the more you take and the more often you take it, the better it works.

"The safety data on melatonin is astounding. So far no one has been able to find a toxic dose! Many of the leading researchers on melatonin in the world take more than 100 mg every day just to prevent cancer. I routinely start all my cancer patients on a minimum of 60 mg per day and use up to 200 mg per day. In addition, it can be taken throughout the day. So if you have cancer, talk to your doctor about adding melatonin to your treatment. It could save your life."

I've taken 200mg+ with no issues. Amounts greater than about 5mg are pro-oxidant and can "hopefully" kill some PCa cells. Amounts less than 5mg are anti-oxidant and simply help the body's immune system/inflamation etc. I cycle them but more often do maybe 100mg a day. One week a month I do only 500mcgs at night.
