Scientists in the PRC are ready to deploy the technology to fix genetic errors in a person’s DNA, getting at the root of disease. China is set to be the first to begin clinical trials in 2018 thanks to massive investment in a new technology company formed there by Juno and WuXi with government assistance.
The battle for technology supremacy between the University of Pennsylvania and China’s premier bioscience university has been nicknamed ‘Sputnik 2’ by the press.
What this means is that CART-T and other immune based treatment systems will soon be getting better genetic information to attach to Killer T-Cells so they can target, attack, and kill PCa and other cancer cells.

Putting religion and politics aside (as we should in this forum in my opinion) I agree with you how little federally funded R&D is going on. That is offset, however, by the substantial capital deployed in private sector. The news is very encouraging.
I am against genetic reconstruction until we know more. Those "genetic errors" may be incomplete mutations for better or worse. 1 billion year old DNA is smarter than us.
Similar arguments to those opposed to aspirin, antibiotics, and insulin. The laws of my God are infinite, science is the tool our creator gave us in order to understand him, and a failure to try is like burying your gifts in the sand. Praying helps, but trying to understand that which you have been given is one gift that needs constant exploration. Learning to use whats in our tool box is necessary if we are to ensure the survival of our species. Genes are just one more element of your biomedical sandbox. Everyone dies. The trick is to learn something that may be shared with others before we do...
