Hello folks

I'm starting once a month treatment for six months to attack the mets in my pelvis. Anyone here had experience with this?

I finished 6 months of radium 223 treatments in October of last year for multiple mets in the spine, ribs, sternum and femur. My experience was very good. Great pain reduction after about six weeks on radium 223. No new mets have developed since. Minimal side effects from the treatments. Maybe a little additional fatigue, but that was all. You will find a summary of my 18 years of treatment since diagnosis in my profile. Good luck!

Amazing journey you've been on! Which doctor (s) have you used during this journey?

A urologist did the biopsy and prostatectomy in 99. When the PSA started going up I went to MD Anderson Houston 2006 to 2011, 2012 to date Florida Cancer Specialist.

Another advanced patient I know just completed his second round of Xofigo. He had low back pain for quite a while before he began. Due to the costs of Xofigo, his doctor did have to spend some time up-front to complete some insurance Pre-Approvals & Certifications, and to arrange for his hospital in-house Pharmacy & Nuclear Medicine departments for acceptance, handling, and infusion. He reported some temporary bone pain flare very shortly after the 1st one. He was also touch and go for his Hemoglobin level before the 2nd one, and is being closely monitored for that. The in-house pharmacy reminded his doctor to give immediate notice if he was going to delay an dose. They didn't want to have to throw out a dose and be on the hook for $15,000+ that they had prepaid.

Is xofigo the same as Radium 223?

Finished 6 months of Xofigo last October. Had minimal side effects. Had great pain relief after 2nd injection allowing me to go off Hydromorphone. My Oncologist said I could expect 6 to 9 months of pain relief. Unfortunately, I fell and fractured 2 thoracic vertebrae in January so had to go back on Hydromorphone for pain as result of the fractures.
