Eric was in a lot of pain the last we heard from him. I've sent him a private email to see how he's doing.
I spoke to Eric yesterday he is home and still in hospice. He sounds tired and a little weak. His cancer is in his liver now and growing. He is trying to update his cancer battles. He wants to keep us updated on his fight. Even in these last days and weeks Eric wants to document the struggle with PCa.
I haver met such a courageous man with his unbelievable gentle soul.
Eric my brother we will miss you with all our hearts.
Hi Joe,
Thankyou for thinking of me and asking about me.
It's been a very difficult period for me, sometimes feeling so very ill that I cannot help but think that the end of the journey is getting very near.
While I was admitted to hospice at home care on August 25, they took me by ambulance on October 5 for admission to the actual hospice unit in Glenview to try to stabilize my meds and my situation. THe hospice team is very kind and professional and they have done everything possible to make me as comfortable as possible.
They released me on October 11, sending me back home at my request (they'd wanted to keep me a little longer, though). And so I remain under hospice at home care for the present.
I may need another admission soon, as things have been so unstable with me, and even tweaking some of the meds hasn't helped as much as we'd hoped.
I owe everyone another entry about how I'm doing under hospice--the wonderful people who have been so supportive of me for a long time. I'll try to make a major journal entry this weekend.
Sometimes I'm too ill to even type on my computer, but it isn't all bad. I have some relatively good days, in spite of everything.
Thank you again, Joe, and God bless you,
Eric

Eric, you are always so inspiring. Thank you for updating everyone. Peace, kind sir.
God bless you Eric. Your grace and kindness since I have known you are amazing. I will state it again, when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last spring you welcomed me with open arms. You had a major positive effect on me. There are countless others whom your words of conform have helped.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Eric you are a warrior with a big heart! You have effected all our lives in the fight against this miserable disease. We are all a "band of brothers" and you my friend are a role model we all aspire! You are in my prayers my friend.

It is difficult to express how this brotherhood is bound with overwhelming feelings for each other. Joe being restless about the long silence of our good friend Eric! Others joining him to say something about Eric! Great man Eric repaying their kindness to make all others happy in his unique resolve!
I pray for you bother. Long live!

I was wondering about Eric the other day. So sorry you are going through this. My dad had trouble concentrating for too long. He stopped texting and face timing. He was just too tired and weak.
We love you Eric!
When I spoke with Eric yesterday he said the pain meds are causing some of the problems we typically expect. I share this prior blurb from Malecare for him and others of us who might encounter the problem. Eric, you have my respect.
"The late John Arnold (former member of the online advanced prostate cancer support group) shared a recipe he obtained from a hospice nurse who cared for him. He described the concoction fondly as the “Brown Bomber” and claimed that it worked like a charm:
"Every day take two “Senna Plus” tablets four times: two upon waking, two with lunch, two with supper, and two at bedtime.
"Whenever two or more days pass without a respectable bowel movement drink along with your normal morning coffee, a mixture of 4 tablespoons of milk of magnesia, 4 tablespoons of coffee, 4 tablespoons of prune juice.
"John claimed that when you stirred it all up it didn’t taste bad at all. He reported that by the second evening he always had a good bowel movement, adding that he would take a second dose on the second day as well if he hadn’t had a movement on the first day. He also said that the nurse told him that whenever he had a bowel movement not to repeat the milk of magnesia, coffee, and juice mixture again for two days without a good movement. He indicated that his treatment worked well and would often carry him for five days before needing to repeat the treatment. During these five interim days he kept on taking the “Senna Plus” as well as occasionally drinking some prune juice."
He passed.
He passed early March. Look for other posts for more info.
