Almost five years and still fighting.

Started out with an enlarged prostate and quickly rising numbers. Theres a lot of Cancer in my family so biopsied and definate Cancer. Had a Radical Prostectomy. The numbers didn't go down so went through something like 32 or so Radiation treatments. The numbers went down a bit gave me hope and a break. At my year appointment with Oncology... my numbers were climbing quickly again. There were no signs as to where the Cancer is now. So now I'm doing the Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT). After 3 injections my numbers are going down again. Keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the next pitfall. Oh and I too had the Artificial Urinary Sphincter surgery.

Sounds like we are PCa twins even down to the AUS. I find that intermittent ADT (Triptorelin) works well and gives me a break from hot flashes from time to time. My PSA drops very quickly when on it and rises very quickly when off it. What was your original Gleason score? No sign of mets so far after 6.5 years.

Sorry that you have had such a difficult journey.  What are and were your numbers at the various points you mentioned?  What are you taking for ADT?

I'm seven years now after surgery. Our experience has been very similar. I've been on Bicalmuteride (spelling?) a generic form of Casodex for 2-1/2 years, and my PSA has been undetectable after the first six months I was on it. Some side effects, but nothing terrible.
