Hi!

I stopped taking my adhd meds 12 days ago due to a change of brand making me depressed/low in mood.

I cannot get another brand due to shortages.

I have taken them for 6 years. I feel better in my mood but extremely tired.

Will this pass?

Your doctor ought to be able to give a more informed opinion, but I think it will pass.

Your body and brain have to adjust to not having the medication, just like they had to adjust to it in the first place. It might take a few days, a few weeks, or even a few months.

There are things that you can do which might help, like meditation, exercise, socializing with friends, or even trying new things you're interested in.

Those sorts of activities can be helpful in stimulating some dopamine release in your brain. They can help to trigger neuroplasticity, which is the brain's ability to change and adapt.

Do your best to get adequate amounts of sleep, eat properly and stay adequately hydrated, and try to maintain a positive mindset. If you find yourself feeling anxious or depressed, then I'd recommend getting help from a therapist, since periods of change can be difficult to navigate on our own.
