Different manufacturer side effects?

Has anyone noticed different side effects depending on the medication manufacturer? Not name brand, just two different generics? We got a new one this month and I swear the side effects are worse! I’ve requested the other manufacturer we had before so I guess we’ll see if that makes a difference. Still, these meds are so hard to find, we can’t really afford to be picky. As it is, I’m taking just 10 pills for this refill and had to “forfeit” the other 20.

yes! We have had some generic manufacturers medication not be as effective, so having different side effects is completely possible, too. It is hard to have to look for specific mfr since it’s not always easy to find the needed medication in general. Glad you figured this out for your child!

YES! This is a known problem. My daughter can only take one particular dose of one generic. We have to make sure the pharmacy packages the correct generic each time. There is something in the filler of the other generic that gives her horrible acid reflux. The also tried the 40mg of the same generic that she has no issue with the 20mg and she had the same problem. She takes 2 20mg tabs of the one generic that does not upset her stomach and that works. I believe this is a relatively common issue and it is often due to different fillers in the medication and not the active ingredients themselves. All to say, I think sometimes people give up or change a medication when they try a new dose when it is not the dose, but the ingredients of the new dose that are an issue. It make the whole finding the right medication issue that much more complicated.

Yes, absolutely. Some kids are brand sensitive. I experienced that with my son when he was younger. He does not seem to be struggling much with that as of late though which I am grateful for especially with the med shortage.
