hi all, I was wondering if anyone had their child on Adderall and experienced their kid’s behavior getting worse. I initially had my 5 yr old son on low dose 2.5mg Ritalin for 1 week and a half but it didn’t last as long during the school day. The dr switched him to Adderall this past week and my son’s behavior got worse.
His teachers said he was angrier for longer periods of time and more irritable. Then on day 7 he said he was hearing voices, so I got worried and stopped the Adderall. The voices he said were repeating everything he was saying so this could explain why he was so irritable. I’m currently trying to reach his dr to see what to do now. Anyone else have this same experience?

We tried Ritalin before Adderal worked for us. When the medicine is leaving his bloodstream, he has a transition time where he has a difficult time self-regulating.
Our son was on Adderall for a while, from low-dose short-acting pills at the beginning up to 25mg extended release. We finally had him switched to Concerta because we were getting mid-afternoon tantrums and aggression when the Adderall was wearing off, even with him taking Guanfacine (later switched to Clonidine) and Abilify.
We're still having issues with evening tantrums and aggression, but the mid-afternoon issues have improved.
A large part of the reason I asked for the switch is because there were so many posts here about the rebound effect from Adderall, seemed much worse than any other of the common stimulants.
