My daughter is 11 and has ADHD and really struggles to focus and stay on task with distance learning. Does anyone have any good tips/tricks to help her? I work full time and can not help her much during the day!

Hey there, I can sympathize with you. My son is 11 and can't stay focused to save his life! Fortunately I am working from home a lot right now so I can be available to him but I am really trying to get him to stay on task during school on his own. He is on medication which helps, he moves around the house to do his online learning which helps his need to move. I keep minty gum around which I think helps a little bit. The big thing is that after school is done I make sure that he has written down all of his homework in a planner and that he tells me what his plan is for the rest of the day. He needs to think about how much work he has along with chores and exercise that he needs to do, and plan how much he will get done before dinner knowing that the rest will have to get done after dinner. So far, tasking him with that planning piece seems to be getting him to be more responsible. He still has a lot of growing to do but I hope it is moving him in the right direction. I hope you find some things that help you with your daughter! Keep trying new things!

My son is 10 years old and struggles with ADHD and GAD. He is medically managed, so that helps a ton. However, when he is having a particularly bad day with focus we put a weighted blanket or his warmie on his lap to help ground him a little bit. We have discussed with the teacher that he cannot sit on a webex for long periods of time, so they are understanding if he needs to stand up or walk for a minute.

I have gotten my son two warmies- if you have never heard of these, you can google them. He uses these at bed time too. But, the added weight that they provide along with the soft material, helps him to focus without the other kids on the zoom or webex from seeing it.

I hope this helps
