Have you considered sending a letter of introduction to your child's teacher? Friendly letters about your child's talents and joyfulness, along with information on ADHD and what they need for success, can go a long way to building your relationship with your child's teacher.
Here is one mother's letter as an example, Dear Teacher: Let Me Introduce My Wonderful Child at bit.ly/nrcdearteacher .
What would you like to tell your child's teacher to get the school year started off right?

I love the letter about Jack... this is always a struggle for me every school year. If I don't write a letter or have a meeting it allows them to see our son the way he is and they tend to like that better. If I have a meeting it is very official and often only when he is struggling. Of course he doesn't want to have anything other than to be normal like his peers.
I think next year when he is at a brand new high school I will send this becuase no one knows him and of course I am dealing with a new 504 coordinator.
Thank you for always getting me thinking in a good way to improve our lives.
