My son was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD in May of this year. He is 6 years old and he just started taking Concerta last week. I think it’s helping a little bit but he is having trouble sleeping at night. He has never had issues before with sleeping. Has anyone else’s children been on this medication and had trouble sleeping?

My daughter is 6, she was also diagnosed in May and started medicine in June. She takes Quillivant and doesn’t have any problems sleeping. Maybe try talking with the doctor, they may be able to change his medicine that wouldn’t affect his sleep. I also use young living essential oils in a diffuser at night to help her sleep. Good luck mama. Hope you find something that works for your little one.
Our now 7 year old was diagnosed at 6 years old, right before his 7th birthday. Doc had us trial the generic methylphenidate (Ritalin). He has been on it for about 3 weeks and so far no problems with sleep. Keeping our fingers crossed. He is on 7.5 mg twice daily.
Yes my son has been on it 4 6 years, he's 9 now, they had to prescribe something 4 sleep as well, because the medication does make sleeping difficult
Try melatonin gummies. My son had the same issue while he was on concerta, because it was slow release his Dr. Suggested giving him the pill about an hour or two earlier. I went from giving him the pill at 7 to waking him at 6 just so he could take the pill. I also found the melatonin gummies at my local CVS and I started having him take two at 7 PM every night. By 8:30 he'd be asleep but I had to make sure to keep it consistent or it would totally mess him up and cause breakdowns.
Best of luck to you
