Anyone's kids take Vayarin? I keep seeing it advertised on Facebook.

My son has been on it for most of the school year. We noticed an improvement in his behavior, but we had also tried something else at the same time. Since it’s expensive and not covered by insurance, we decided to take him off it. Within a week his behavior was much worse. We talked to him doctor and she said that’s what she sees a lot when kids go off the medication.

It’s a “medical food” kind of like a vitamin or supplement, so it’s not covered by insurance. It comes in a capsule that you can break open and sprinkle the powder in yogurt or something else the child likes. It’s a subtle difference, so don’t expect dramatic results, but it does seem to help my son.

My grandson has been on it for a couple of years. CVS Pharmacy has some kind of discount coupon they can use on it but it is still about $70 a month. Don't know that it's done that much good but don't want to take him off just in case it is. It's like a high Omega-3 medical food

Ok. I would love to get my daughter off stimulants and back on a more natural treatment.

We just started my 9 year old on it about 3 weeks ago. It was recommended by his ADHD therapist. Her own ADHD son has been taking it for a year or two and really helps with his mood. He takes it in addition to Concerta. My own son takes Ritalin. The literature recommends it in addition to traditional medicine. We wanted to try something that might help in the mornings and evenings when he isn't on medication. I was told you have to give it 90 days to see if it will help or not. We haven't seen any difference yet, but it's only been a little over 3 weeks. I'll try and post something later on about if it helps or not. There isn't a lot of feedback out there.
