What are everyone's thoughts on weighted blankets for ADHD?

Weighted blankets
I am curious about this as well.
I have heard good things about the weighted blankets from an adult stand point for anxiety, from a child stand point I'm not sure. My son previous therapist recommended the blanket during school, and at the time my mind set was what can a blanket do for disruptive behaviors. Years forward, I recently purchased a weighted vest for my son with ADHD and Autism. And I can truly say after having it on at school, it was a difference between night a day. My son have been making improvements without the vest or blanket when he was originally diagnosed at age 4 until now at age 12, ( I credit teamwork with his teachers to deescalate him during his meltdowns). But he was still having trouble in school, not daily like it was in the past, but he would have his moments. I was concerned because he will soon be reaching the 7th grade and wanted him to have a little more control over his behaviors, I'm aware of little tolerance for ADHD school age children's behaviors as they get older. I came across the weighted vest and took a chance. I didn't tell him what it was for, I had my doubt that it had any benefits. HOWEVER; I asked him how was his day, and when he said he "felt more calmer", I knew I got my money worth. That was about a month ago and since that time, I have not received any emails about his behavior, and he enjoys wearing it. It is kind of bulky because I have 3 lbs of weight in the vest, but I'll trade calmer days at school then fashion. I want say it will work for your child, because every child is different, it's like when I gave my kids vitamins /minerals, the omega 3"s etc, coffee that was recommended for ADHD children; none of it had an effect with them. To me it's trial and error.
We just got one for our 7 yr old. She seemed to sleep ok before using it but since, we’ve noticed that she’s not all over the place tossing and turning which makes me feel like she’s getting better sleep... she also will use it while watching tv or when we snuggle to read books. She’ll even ask for it if she feels like she can’t stop bouncing while doing a task.
I’m going to make a lap blanket for school that she can lay on her lap or over her shoulders when working to see if that helps as well. Worth a try!
Good morning, my daughter is 4 years old, weighs 33lbs and I just bought her a 5 lbs weighted blanket per her Occupational Therapist's recommendation. They are somewhat expensive, (I paid about $60-$70 on Amazon) so if you are crafty you can make one following YouTube or Pinterest tutorials.
Her school director told me that they can get her an extra weighted blanket to use at school for free with a doctor's prescription. She attends Head Start and has an IEP so I'm not sure if other schools will do that. But worth asking.
As to the actual product, I dont have much feedback yet but I'm excited to see the results.
Works for my son at school to help him calm down and reduce anxiety. Pressure works with helping him fall asleep at night. I bought a blanket from amazon and it is supposed to arrive today. Hoping it helps him fall asleep at night.
I got the cmfrt cozy weighted blanket set with removable duvet. My son is about 60 lbs but he seems to like a little extra pressure so I opted for the 8 lb. option. It was $99.99. Only comes in one color.
