Has your son been seen by a doctor, just ask the doctor to write to school. That is horrible for them to just take it away

My sons been seen by a doctor and his recommendation was submitted to the school, as we do every year. Its just so frustrating, if my son had mobbed for this accommodation we wouldn't request it.

Is your school public or private? My son's private school denied him a 504, and in fact said he was not eligible. He started a public school this year, and he has a 504 now.

He's in his first year of high school, its public. His middle school was also.

Request for the school to evaluate him. I had my daughter tested privately and the school couldn't care less what that doctor had to say, we are in NY also. The schools evalutor said the same thing and they ended up granting her an IEP and I was only looking for extra testing time. The teacher can initiate the process. Good luck!

I didn't think of that since I'm not asking for an IEP. If the regional 504 coordinator declines us also, I'll try asking a school evaluation. Thanks for the tip!
