Do you use a step counter?: - Active 10
I have a garmin activity tracker however it doesn't really track my steps very well at the moment as I am pushing a buggy
I had downloaded an app from the App Store for Diabetes and it also counts the steps I do. Very helpful!
I want to get a fitness tracker of some sort but don't have a shedload of spare cash! Also, I hear such variable reports about the different type of step counters available that it's confusing trying to pick out one that will do what I want it to reliably. A basic pedometer would probably do, as long as it will count my total steps during general movement as well as when I'm out on a route march!
I bought a small pedometer on line from China for about £2.80, works marvellously, more accurate than an iPhone also tracks distance and calories. Very basic but does the job.
could you please let me no were it was and whot address cos I'm sick f things not working
Here is a link to Amazon who have a variety of different ones, I can't comment on how good any particular one is but it's a good place to start.
I have a fitbit just the basic which is good enough
that was a birthday present I do love to walk especially near the sea , I think the best a cheapest exercise you can do
I have an App watch (Xmas pressie) and try to do 10,000 steps per day.........
I have a fitbit bought out of avon its only basic counts steps calories burnt and distance but it gives me the motivation to keep moving aim is to do at least 10000 steps daily.
I have bought an Omron step counter since my vote so I'm now a 'Yes!'
Have just ordered one.
I have one on my phone. It would probably be better if I purchased a proper one, though.
Hi everybody,
If we use step counter all our concentration goes on counter repeatedly we check counts, when we achieve target or our no even we are willing to walk little bit more our mind stops us means we think we have achieved our target, and we return back, another thing we cant walk free mindedly, and cant able to enjoy natures beauty,
Don't agree that it stops me walking more. It encourages me. Maybe it's about what the individual wants from the device - whether it's a Fitbit, Garmin, a phone - if it gives you the impetus to walk in the first place, and then helps you to understand how you can become fitter, healthier, walk further, enjoy life, what does it matter.
My suggestion is to learn more about your health, understand what it is you're putting into your body (you only have one) - understand what you need to eat instead of what you desire, then have lots of the first and treat yourself to the second. You'll lose weight, feel healthier, be healthier and enjoy life.
The simple instruction 'move more, eat less' is the start. It's where you take it next is what's important.
Hello Vijayrm, I agree with you. Absolutely. Using a step counter focuses on mechanics. Even if one lives in an urban area one can't observe the surprises to be found by looking "freely" while one calculates the number of steps. There is much to be said about using our senses as we walk. Walking and looking gives serenity to the day.
My android phone counts the steps for me
I have the basic fitbit to keep track of my steps. Me aim is 10,000 a days but I don't always succede
wow! a lot use them so they are good going to invest in one for my 12 week walking
I have a fitbit hr and it has been key to keeping me on track with how much exercise I do daily, what calories I consume and %age split of what nutrients I am getting. I have lost 25lb since the end of March. Largely due to eating a calorie reduced diet and also upping my exercise from nothing. I go out walking as much as I can usually 6am for an hour. The transformation has been amazing. I have so much more energy, strength, fitness and desire. I love walking and doing brisk walks can really help reduce visceral fat aroubd ones organs and around the legs, bums and tums area. I am hugely more confident and woumd recommend it to anyone that feel self conscious about doing exercise as that was me.
I just count as I walk - hopefully exercising my mind as well as my body!
