I've been on AS for four years. Last MRI six months, PSA 7.2 Gleeson 6. I'm now finding blood in my semen . How concerned should I be?

Doesn’t hurt to contact your treating team. Blood in the semen could be related to things other then prostate cancer development, but it certainly shouldn’t be present.

Best Wishes.

"hematospermia" is likely inflammatory or traumatic. Not related to PSA. BUT, yes, let your team know as they might want to get new imaging.

Sorry for late reply, new here so just saw this. As it has been almost a month hopefully you have had it looked at by now. 1. If you recently had prostate biopsy that could lead to blood in semen for a few days after.

2. How do you know it is blood? Even eating beets can leave red in the john a day later

and give you a bit of a fright...

If none of the above, get thee to the doctor asap.

Would love an update and hopefully it was a false alarm.

Take care

Thanks for the reply. The show of blood is exactly like that following a biopsy, and it definitely is real blood! I've had checks done by my GP re infections etc, all negative. Just waiting to hear back from the urologist following further blood test. I'll keep this updated.

Interesting. You did not mention if it is sporadic, how long its been going on, getting worse or better etc. Glad you are getting it checked out. Keep up posted.

I was on AS for about 11 years. Then an MRI and biopsy changed all that . PSA was around 7+.

With a PSA of 7 that may be some concern. More importantly, I believe, what has been your PSA trend and velocity? If it has been pretty constant over 4 year is one thing. If on the other hand PSA has been increasing over time, the velocity becomes important. I agree, follow up with a doc is needed.

Not what you're looking for?
