3T Multiparametric Prostate MRI Results

MRI Results - I've had annual 3T multiparametric MRIs . Four starting in Jan of 2017. None have been all that conclusive, the first 3 were ranked PI-RADS 3. The most recent, was Ranked PI-RADS 1, which under normal circumstances would presumably be a great thing. But they qualify the result. "A definite lesion is not identified, though the T2 images are suboptimal due to motion artifact and lack of IV contrast."

They push for contrast dye every year, but many facilities are stopping its use, because of the side effects of gadolinium. So finally the question: Is "motion artifact" a fancy way of saying movement? I was as still as deer in headlights. And also, can anyone recommend a radiologist that would be willing to review the results and/or the images and speak to me. Thanks. Bill

Dr. Joe Busch at the Busch Center outside of Atlanta. buschcenter.com/?utm_source.... Dr. Busch is a radiologist oncologist with 50 years of experience specializing in prostate cancer. You can send your MRI to him and he will spend as much time as you need talking with you and answering any questions. One caveat, he does't accept insurance or medicare. I don't know what his charge is for reading an MRI.

Hi mlbky - thanks for the reverence. I'll check it out . Waiting for appointment on Feb 6 with my urologist to get his take first. Cheers

one comment. from youre post I presume you had not contrast. A lot of time contrast is not needed but if you have pirads 3 they use the contrast scan to get more info and push it up or down the scale. Not an expert but that is my underrstanding
