Hormone therapy (ADT) is brutal. Suggest you read "Androgen Deprivation Therapy: An Essential Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Loved Ones." Excellent layman's explanation of what to expect and how to cope.

I was given Firmagon and then Lupron as part of a 3 part treatment (beam radiation and seed implants). The hormones were life changing; the worse part for me was the emotional roller coaster, depression, and sadness. Hope this does not happen to you.

Good luck to you and welcome to the chat.

Hello, I have been on radiation and Lupron (Eligard - generic) injections every 3 months for 6 1/2 years. I started in 2007 and on Christmas Eve my doctor told me there were no more signs of cancer. I am on active surveillance now, but you can ask me any questions.

Not what you're looking for?
