Probable AN

Hi, having had symptoms for over a year, an MRI in September I now have to have another MRI with contrast. Waiting, waiting for an appointment is really having a bad effect on my mental health. I still have not seen a consultant - I just got a letter to say I probably have an AN. Am scared and worried as my symptoms are getting worse especially the vertigo. Not quite sure what to do

Hi. Don't sure I can help except to say, you are the first person that I have spoken to that is on a similar path to me. Had scan in July. Got sent for contrast scan which my GP eventually had to arramge in November. Started with the strange dizzy feeling in September, which I was scared of getting worse. Found out at a meeting of the British Acoustic Neuroma Association that the dizziness should go as your other ear will.start to sort out your balance. I think the stress makes.it worse. It has taken time but mine seems better now. In have no consultant to look.at the scan but have been assured that I have now been sent to.Salford which I should hear.from.by end of the month. And was given a number to ring b y a specialist.Nurse also.in the meeting. Hope this helps reassure you about the dizziness also you could get medication from your GP.

Hi, after a very bad weekend, I phoned MRI and miraculously got a cancellation appointment yesterday. Just having had that next stage helps. Hopefully I will get the results before too long and actually see someone to talk to. Thanks for the reassurance about the dizziness as it is pretty disconcerting, especially as I have quite a bit of childcare booked up for my 1 year old granddaughter. I hope you hear soon about your AN

Hi Wons1, I had to wait between MRI scans a total of 6mths, had second one with contrast dye in December with thankfully no change but no clear discussions on treatment apart from watch and wait my AN is 9mm but does affect me in terms of balance. I don’t tend to be dizzy but more head surges especially when going up and down stairs. Going outside affects me but it’s a mixture of sounds and my own anxiety about how I am going to feel so avoid it at the moment and thankfully work from home presently. I was referred to a physio for balance exercisesand it has made a difference just being able to discuss symptoms. I hope you get some more answers soon.
