I've just been diagnosed with an AN as well as deafness & facial numbness I also suffer from gritty eyes - is this usual ?
Luckily, that's one symptom I avoided. I've had dry eye though for which the doc prescribed Viscotears. Its a gel drop and definitely helps me. Best of luck. keith
I didn't get the problem with my eye until after my surgery .The deafness and facial/ tongue numbness I suffered for about 12mths .My face is still numb but my tongue is beginning to feel strange but my main problem is the gritty eye which I am going to discuss with my doctor.Hope everything goes well for you .
Hi the numbness and deafness seem quite usual but I didn't have eye issues until after surgery. I also use drops and tears twice per day and I don't have any issues with it now. Good luck with your treatment.
I have this also and TBH it doesn't worry me. My 2.5 x 2 x 2 AN was removed in Dec 12. I too have a small fragment left on my facial nerve.
I was diagnosed with an AN because of sudden hearing loss, unfortunately on top of a bilateral sensoneural loss that I already had so have quite a hearing problem now! I also have some facial involvement and quite often get a dry eye on that side worse than the other side. Facial wise I have tightness some patchy numbness and even get pins and needles in my teeth! Twitching happens less since I had GK in December last year but still get it occasionally. Since the GK my hearing has deteriorated considerably on the AN side which I was hoping it wouldn't but hey ho not a lot I can do about that! Am seeing my Doctor about getting another hearing test soon to check how bad it's got suspect it's now in the severe to profound scale where it was moderate to severe!
