I just moved to the UK. Where can I get my INR checked?

You need to register with a GP (General Practitioner = Doctor) to get NHS services. You will either go to the surgery, visit an anticoagulation clinic or go to the hospital pathology lab for INR testing, it varies depending on the local service agreements.

Hi there,

Step 1 - Do a phone around of local General Practioners in your local area and find out who uses the Roche Coaguchek XS INR testing system.

Step 2 - See if you can register with them, if so go ahead and register. Depending on where you live, what the local GP does etc etc you will get your prescriptions for Warfarin from here anyway and the Coaguchek test strips too. How much it all costs will depend on your age.

Suggest you also Google Roche Coaguchek XS and read all about it including purchase methods. This will enable you to self test at home and will give you so much freedom. At worst the GP will use their machine and do it for you and you will get instant results. This item will need to be purchased by yourself though.

I self monitor using the coaguchek machine from Roche diagnostics.

I find it very accurate.
