Long term codeine abuse can cause dizzy spells, lack of motor control and seizures, but whatever the cause is he really shouldn't be driving if he's having seizures.

I can understand that he doesn't want to give up his driving; I assume it's his profession or he needs to drive for work?

HOWEVER....if he has a seizure whilst driving it's not just himself he takes out - it's anyone in a vehicle he hits, or a pedestrian on the roadside, etc. Were it only him affected I'd say 'his life, he deals with it in a way that he and his family can handle'; something like this though can potentially affect a lot of other lives....

Sorry...I don't mean to be judgemental but I think he needs to see a doctor and get the cause of those seizures looked in to - it could be quite serious - and a failure to do so because of losing his ability to drive is a bit selfish.
