FMF in child and colchicine

My 10 year old son has been diagnosed with FMF and prescribed with Colchicine for long term use. I am devastated and would like some help on others that have gone through this experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dear Nurgulali I have been on Colchicine treatment on and off for over the last 10 years. It is actually one of the original natural rheumatoid medications. And is very well researched. Please follow the Dr's directions strictly and trust in your medical practitioner, as they years of experience with plenty of back up from other research before they would ever make any decisions, especially in regards with a young patient. My only constant side effect has been a upset stomach and for that reason I have to stop or reduce treatment. Hang in there and prayers of healing for your young man.

Thank you for your reply. We have seen a fantastic rheumatologist in England and he is very positive that my boy will be well cared and treated for. Praying that the colchicine works for him. All the best wishes for you.

Dear Nurgulali I am so happy to hear that have found an awesome rheumatologist, that makes the world of difference in your treatment plan for the future. Have a look at his diet too that will benefit him with the colchicine. I found that a Mediterranean diet helped me personally but each person is different, lots of light, salaams and blessings to you too
