Quality of Life vs. Extending Survival
Please consider the following question that I have been pondering: How would you place a value on a certain number of months or years with restored vitality, virility, strength, both physical and mental, in other words the fullness of life and happiness? And that weighed against the number of months

Cellular and Genetic Clues that Drive BAT effectiveness
A recent post in HU-APC discussed a COMBAT-CRPC interview of Dr. Antonarakis by Prostate Cancer Foundation president, Dr. Charles Ryan. I feel this deserves more attention to highlight their important research findings which can help guide clinical use of BAT and to understanding why it is effective.

Can you Eliminate Bone Mets with Radiation?
Hi, I have 4 bone mets which are quite small (<0.25"). I've asked my Radiation Oncologists about cyber-knife or SABR but they seem hesitant. Has anyone successfully ridded themselves of bone mets this way? I'm currently on Zytiga/Pred/Lupron with essentially zero PSA/Testosterone. Thank you. Steve

PSA Rising after 5 years
My PSA has started to rise after 5 years. It’s at 1.24 ug/L. The last PSA three months ago was 0.27 ug/L. I have been on continuous ADT mono therapy since diagnosis, except for a short ill advised break in 2020. I was originally treated with ADT upfront followed by 6 rounds of Docetaxel and radiation

Optimizing Bone Health in Prostate Cancer
I believe this to be a very good resource for an important concern for all men with any type of PCa. [u]
The statistics are somewhat staggering, and apparently a great many Docs are giving this topic too brief a mention during consults.

Xtandi vs. Abiraterone vs. Nubeqa
So… my recurrence treatment plan consists of RT and ADT & Xtandi for 2 years. I’m still working until January ’23 so cost isn’t a concern until then. My current insurance doesn’t include Xtandi in the formulary - abiraterone & Nubeqa are the covered options. An appeal is underway and coverage seems likely

Meaning of SHBG
After visiting my oncologist yesterday for my 3 monthly checkup, my Testosterone level was shown to be <0.5 L and my SHBG was 48. After almost 7 years since metastatic diagnosis and treatments of radiation, chemotherapy and ADT (6 monthly Eligard) since 2016, I have not had my testosterone levels tested

Hormone Therapies
When I couldn't pass urine anymore due to enlarged prostate, I was given Duodart by my Urologist and told that I will be taking it rest of my life. It caused severe blood clot (DVT) and both at the ER and a cardiologist I consulted, I was told that it is very high risk condition, because if a

knee replacement during ADT
I have been on ADT for 8 months. I have a small farm and usually do constant physical labor. I find that I now have major fatigue and can now only do small things that leave me exhausted. I fell and wrenched my knee. I got a steroid injection and have a brace, my knee is bone o bone. I need a knee replacement

Next round of treatment underway
Profile is up to date, but to summarize - 2nd recurrence with two mets discovered via PSMA scan (T3 and a rib). Treatment: 5 SBRT treatments to each met and 2 years of ADT plus Xtandi. All have started this week. There was some discussion about adding Taxotere to the plan as well but the consensus

Gleason 9 CRPC any thoughts out there

Low sugar diet and fruits
I have been on low/no sugar since starting ADT a year ago. After reading a recent post that prunes helped nighttime urination, I tried it and, at least night, it seems to work. Reading the box this AM, I see prunes a pretty high in sugar, as are several other fruits. Now what ???

? Experience w/ taking Hydroxychloroquine & ADT simultaneously? If so, issues w/ your heart or other side effects? Clinical Trial or Nubeqa?
I've been considering doing a clinical trial or just starting on Nubeqa. The trial includes a pretty high dosage of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), along with Metformin and Sirolimus. I'm trying to figure out if the trial/HCQ has a significant chance of causing heart disruptions/issues. I am cautious because

Latest PSA
My latest PSA test was 0.25 down from 0.30 i had 3 months ago. My Oncologist does not want me to start ADT yet. He wants me to continue monitoring my PSA so I'll have another test in 3 months. My PSMA pet scan 3 months ago was negative and now this decrease in PSA leads to believe that I may have

Catch 22 - Hormone sensitive but can't tolerate hormone therapy
This is related to my posts about Lupron giving me intolerable and treatment resistant depression. The Lupron did work so far as bringing my PSA down to essentially zero which should mean it is suppressing the cancer. It is the front line SOC (Standard of Care) - FDA approved, proven in practice, etc

On Lupron/Zytiga/Prednisone for nearly 1 YR - Stage 4 w/Bone Met
I was diagnosed with Stage 4 (Gleason 8-9) last August and was immediately put on Lupron, then Zytig/Pred after 3 months. PSA was only 1.2 but actually more like 2.4 since I was on Finestride. Testosterone was 650. Now after 1 year, I'm at 0.02 PSA and <5 Testosterone, both immeasurable. Prior PET
