Hypocellular bone marrow. Can anyone tell me more?
It's more common with pernicious
anaemia
. Used it to insist on a bone marrow biopsy in the hope it would shed some light on B12 deficiency. By now was self injecting - included loading doses then twice weekly. Stopped injecting when haematology appointment came through.

Low iron in pregnancy; Spatone recommended - what was tested?
My daughter (euthyroid, six months pregnant, vegetarian) has just been for a check up with the midwife and has been told “your iron is low. It’s 109 and we worry if it goes below 105 so you’d better get some Spatone”. I don’t know much about iron but from this site I have learned that a full iron panel

'Malabsorption' - what do doctors mean exactly?
Hello, When reading about causes of deficiences such as iron, folate, B12 etc. the medical information (from whichever source) lists the causes and malabsorption is always one of them. To me this seems vague compared to the other causes: eg. in the Guidance for Primary Care on the Interpretation

Neurologist’s phone call
One of Dr Bagary’s team rang this afternoon. He listened to me and seemed to understand my situation.. l requested a switch from Temgesic to Subutex, but of course he will have to consult Dr Bagary which all takes time. I also discussed dosage with him as the two sorts of tablets come in different

Am I really lacking B12?
I was diagnosed with PA around 2018, I had the camera down which confirmed atrophic gastritis, I had positive tests for anti parietal cells and intrinsic factor; so classic PA. My B12 levels were around 300 at the time and not considered low but i was given loading doses and monthly injections. However

Disappointed
I’m waiting for Medichecks pernicious
anaemia
tests to come back. I recently had a CT scan as part of my surgery follow up and it showed nothing untoward. The GP refused to comment on the gastritis and said that B12 is not deficient. He proposes to check my haemoglobin and recheck B12.

People new to Pernicious
Anaemia
/vitamin B12 deficiency who have no choice to self inject are often confused as to the frequency that they should. You may want to consider Hunter’s words, ‘Don’t think, try.’ Your body tells you by symptoms, so listen to it.
