Still NED 1 year after starting Mektovi and Braftovi

Hello all!

I first want to wish you all peace and strength, wherever you are currently at with your journey.

Some good news that I hope may bring some hope to others who may need it. After having some melanoma lumps removed from under my arm and from my chest last August, I have been taking oral targeted therapy called Mektovi and Braftovi. I just had my one year CT scan and brain MRI-- all clear (no evidence of disease). I did a real happy dance in my oncologist's office. It's even better because I have not had side effects. I could not be more thrilled because I'm getting married in less than three weeks and going to Greece for the honeymoon. Having NED results going into these momentous, happy occasions makes them that much happier.

I know melanoma is unpredictable and nothing is a given, but I am focusing on being happy and healthy right here, right now. I have met others through different groups who have been using the mektovi/braftovi for FOUR years and are still NED. As others have told me, this is not a death sentence. I am focusing on my health by prioritizing sleep, nutrition and movement (yoga). I laugh a lot more now and have cut out stressful things. It has been a hard, scary road and I know I need to remain vigilant and dedicated to my health and healing. I am grateful for those of you in this group who gave me encouragement, suggestions, and support. I hope to do the same for anyone who needs it. Reach out at any time! Let's get through this together!

So very happy for you. Have a beautiful

wedding and honeymoon. I am so thankful

that these drugs exist

and that others are in the pipeline. Keep those research dollars flowing to help beautiful people like you beat this disease and you enjoy their lives.

Thank you so so much! Yes, my oncologist was telling me a little about other treatments they are working on. Very promising. Thanks for reading and for your support!
