Just diagnosed with Melanoma In situ

Hello. About a week ago I went in to have a routine check up with my derm and she found a mole on my back that she said she didn't like so she took a biopsy. I've been a nervous wreck waiting to hear back and I got the call today....Melanoma in situ. I go in Wednesday to have the entire mole removed. I am so scared. I am a 35 year old mom of 4 ages 12, 6, 3 & 12 weeks. I don't know what to think or do at this point...I'm just so scared and can't believe this is happening.

Good morning! Melanoma in Situ is very curable. Do you have a family history of skin cancer? You're doing the right thing! Get that crap out of there and then practice sun safety. Get your skin checked and check yourself all the time. You're gonna do great!

Thank you so much for your response, to answer your question, no, there's no family history that I'm aware of. I am just so terrified when they go in for the excision tomorrow they will find it's something worse. I know I need to try and trust the things my derm told me but it's just very hard for me. I am so glad they did find it early and all I can do is pray that after tomorrow when it's removed all comes back clear. I will keep posted and again, thank you so Much for the response.

Yes, keep me posted! It's great that you had a doctor that recognized that it was suspicious.
