My name is alisha benns, I'm 44 years old. I was diagnosed with endometriosis last year. I was a stage 4. I ended up getting a laparoscopy and it was to horrific to try to remove the scar tissue. It was attached to everything. It was an abdominal hysterectomy. He didnt take my cervix because of bladder dropping. I still have bladder issue and pelvic. He did scrape my pelvic peritoneam. He left one ovary so i wouldn't go full blown menapause. I do have implants in my lower back to help with bladder spasms, pelvic pain, nerve damage brought on by endo and ic. I do have sciatica, osteoarthritis, lumbar spondylosis, depression, anxiety, hernia. It just neverending. I had horrible periods when i was a teenager that made me vomit and kept me home from school. Doctor's didn't do anything. This is why I've been suffering for so long. I was supposed to get laparoscopy back in 2013 but it was denied. Now I'm on my 3rd obgyn who has been wonderful. I feel this road has not ended.

Hi Alisha, sounds like you really have had a hard time!

It’s awful because most woman who have endometriosis don’t suffer endometriosis alone! It’s such a debilitating condition that doesn’t just effect you physically but also affects you mentally! Your in the right place for support where people like myself truely understand what your going through!

I recently had surgery and it was a lot worse than they thought it would be going off my last lap in Feb 2015 and this time round I have also been told it’s likely I have adenomyosis too! Do you know if they tested your womb for this when you had your hysterectomy? As I am only 23 and have not started a family yet I cannot even comprehend a hysterectomy just yet but there are days I wish I’d had one already!

Take care! I hope this catches you on a pain free day.

Shan x
