Do yourself a big favour and don't complicate what essentially is easy to understand.
Carbs raise insulin. Insulin is the storage hormone and it is impossible to lose weight/control diabetes whilst it is constantly elevated in the bloodstream.

Dump the fast acting refined carbs (bread/rice/pasta/potatoes) replace them with green vegetables and start eating lots of naturally occurring fats - butter, cheese, nuts etc.
