Hi Stace do you mind me asking if you had fertility treatment? I’m 29 and trying with PCOS and don’t seem to have periods at all x

Nope no treatment! I had come off my pill for say 6 months and no period would come so went to gp who gave me metformin to start but I decided to hold off a week as I felt like my discharge was changing! Que Monday morning I took one tablet and full day I had awful heart burn and I work in pharmacy so checked side effects (isn’t one of them) and light bulb said your pregnant and I was 7 days to be exact! Had a healthy baby girl in May and if spent 15 years worrying about whether I’d be able to! Don’t know if you’ve tried it but the flow app is good for getting you to notice changes that give you an indication as to what’s going on inside and the cheap ovulation stops are great for when you notice loads of cervical mucus to test if it’s ovulation window! Hope this helps! Xxx

Thank you Stace that’s so helpful! I’ve been off the pill 9 months with no period and went to my GP who referred me to Gynae but with Covid-19 there is a really long waiting list. I’ve been feeling like trying is pointless if I’m not ovulating (so far haven’t had much luck with the ovulation strips!) but hearing your story gives me hope that it could happen at any point. Thank you I’ll try the flow app & congratulations on your baby girl 🙂xx

The thing is even when you are going to take a period (and you will it may just be longer between) you will ovulate before it so you want to be ready! Make sure to watch out for the cervical mucus being in abundance and really like stringy egg white colour as this tells you you are either ovulating or it will be done on route! I will point out that once I realised that this happens when you ovulate it made me think I’ve only noticed it since the app indicated it so shows that sometimes we are oblivious to signs our body gives! Good luck and I’m sure you’ll be messaging me to tell Me the good news in 2021 ❤️ Xxx

Heya, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 and was on the pill for 20 years! When I stopped I never had a period. I started treatment with clomid which worked and made me ovulate but I didn’t get pregnant. I was then referred to IVF which worked on first time and now I have a beautiful baby girl. This was me but my sister who had the exact same thing (never had a period) has 3 kids. First two with just medication and third completely naturally.

I also started to have my period ( not regular but at least I get something) since I had my baby so I feel like maybe I could get pregnant naturally as well.

Also worth mentioning I got pregnant when I was 36!

I know is easy to say but try not to panic. I was always told that PCOS is one of the easiest fertility issues to be solved xx

Hi Ladies,

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences as it is always comforting to hear that you are not alone in this. I wanted to share my experience with you but also to ask those who have conceived beautiful babies a few questions.

I was on the pill for 16 years and now 33yrs old. I was not ovulating and having regular periods when I came off the pill in Aug 2019. I had a transvaginal scan in Feb which along with a few other symptoms like irregular periods that confirmed I had PCOS. I was then put on the waiting list for the fertility clinic and had my first consultation over the phone end of Nov 2020. It just so happened that I just started my period so was asked to provide blood to check my hormone levels. I have since then provided blood again on cycle day 20 and just had another transvaginal scan today (which I could see showed a few cysts) and will have those results soon. 91_maria I can hear that you are worried and it can be stressful, but from my research, there are plenty of women who have PCOS that have been able to conceive. I am a Public Health Nutritionist who supports parents with little ones and many of my families are in their 40s with healthy bubbly babies!

My question to anyone who has conceived with any support, how long did it take from the moment of having all of your tests done (including your partner's SA test) before you were prescribed any medications such as Clomid? I have been scheduled in with the fertility consultant for May 2021 but was wondering if waiting 6 months from the time you have your test to get an insight on your results is normal?

Sorry for the essay! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Tina

Hi Tina, I think things are very different now due to Covid so I assume that’s why the wait is so long. The waiting time also varies depending on hospital/area. My treatment was actually very quick. My first appointment was in March and after that I started doing all tests straightway and medication (clomid) started in May.

I’m sorry is being so stressful and I know the wait doesn’t help but you could also keep trying naturally while you wait as I know people who has PCOS and conceived naturally xx
